Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Medical Director has overall responsibility for the medical program at the county including monitoring services provided by non-physician providers within the detention facilities. Essential Functions Reasonable accomOrganizationations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Responsible for success of health care program at assigned facilities including performance of clinical staff Ensure quality of medical records, pharmaceutical practices and implementation and adherence to Policy & Procedures as well Standardized Procedures Consult with PAs/FNPs and RNs on all conditions falling outside standardized procedure parameters Performing sick call and physical examinations as scheduled Review and countersign records of patients seen and treated by RNs (under standardized procedures) Countersign all verbal and telephone orders Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review meetings Participate in on-call activities as needed Attend Quality Assurance and Administrative meetings May assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process, orientation and training of new and potential staff Responsible for the performance evaluations and successful training of direct reports Other Duties Employees are expected to continue ongoing training and learning in compliance with their license or certification requirements along with performing within scope while demonstrating and implementing the compliance requirements learned. Must be able to comply with all Company policies and procedures. Supervisory Responsibility This position supervises or may supervise the following positions (list positions) Physician Assistants Nurse Practitioners Registered Nurses who operate under Standardized Procedures Physical Therapists Psychologists Competencies Problem solving-the individual identifies problems in a timely manner and skillfully gathers and analyzes information then practically and creatively resolves problems. Requirements Required Education and Experience Unrestricted current medical license, certification or registration in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. Board Certified/eligible in the field of internal medicine, family practice, or emergency medicine Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration Minimum one year experience Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and ACLS certification through AHA Excellent communication skills Excellent knowledge of emergency care, medical care methods and procedures In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures and willingness to follow them at all times Preferred Education and Experience Previous correctional/detention facility experience At least five years' experience as a Medical Director Demonstrated ability to work on a computer including but not limited to: using the Internet, Microsoft Office products and Electronic Medical Record system Ability to touch type on a keyboard, operate basic office equipment including but not limited to using mouse and/or stylus to do electronic health documentation records Security Requirements Must obtain and maintain security clearance throughout the course of employment Must pass background investigation conducted by the Company and/or Facility as a requisite for initial and or continued employment May be required to undergo reasonable suspicion testing for being under the influence of controlled substances, including prescription, legal, and illegal substances, including marijuana Must undergo security training and orientation on Facility Safety Policies and Procedures Must follow county facility policies and procedures
