The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center. Responsibilities Provides care for children in compliance with Child Development standards as outlined in applicable regulations. Assists in planning and conducting an effective child development program to meet the physical, social emotional and intellectual needs of each child based upon stated goals and a curriculum plan. Observes and evaluates children's development level and maintains record of progress. Coordinates by age, the appropriate play and learning activities to foster individual and group activity development Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialize experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions. General Experience: One year of general experience for GS-1702-04: General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR EDUCATION: 2 years above high school with courses related to the occupation, if required. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience as described above may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of Child Development regulations procedures and processes 2. Ability to promote and foster effective working relationship with children 3. Ability to interpret a curriculum plan and follow written instructions 4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 5. Ability to development creative and innovative activities for children 6. Ability in planning and organizing work. Ability to gather and compile pertinent data PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: If position has a positive degree requirement or education forms the basis for qualifications, you MUST submit transcripts with the application.
