The Laundry Manager IV manages a very large regional laundry to include laundry support and transport for several facilities. Serves as the primary person responsible for providing sufficient, quality laundry support for all facilities within the region. Work involves establishment of goals and objectives; adherence to necessary production levels and wash efficiency rates; maintenance of a large operating budget; proper use and maintenance of laundry equipment; and overall supervision of a large workforce. Directly supervises a laundry manager and a clerk to assist in the operations and production workloads to meet daily laundry requirements. Primary management responsibilities focus around receiving, sorting, washing, drying/ironing, folding and proper distribution of linen/laundry. Works under limited direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.



Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Coordinates with all supported facilities and manages the laundry workforce to ensure proper receipt, sorting, laundry and distribution of all linen and laundry products. Plans and schedules work to meet production requirements with a quality laundry product. With assistance from the laundry manager and a clerk, ensures the proper maintenance of records and provides concise reports to supported facilities and to higher staff support personnel. Provides oversight to ensure proper laundry machinery and equipment operation to include maintenance of wash efficiency rates (by load) and proper chemical/soap settings, water softener maintenance, etc. Ensures the proper submission of test bundles. Receives test bundle results and makes proper adjustments to account for the results of this testing. Works with the laundry manager and the chemical soap supplier to set the formulas properly for each type wash. Supervises the preparation of formulas to ensure a clean product with reasonable service life. Works with the clerk and laundry manager to ensure that the soap and chemical inventory is always at proper levels. Coordinates with each supported facility to ensure that a four day supply of linen is on hand. Coordinates with the clerk to inventory and maintain regional laundry stock to replace worn/torn and stained laundry. Develops and manages an effective inventory system to include minimum reorder points and maximum storage levels. Works with the maintenance plant manager and technicians to ensure proper preventative maintenance on the continuous batch washer (CBW) and other laundry equipment. Ensures that all repairs are addressed immediately and continuously until each issue is resolved. Requires a daily PM schedule and demand work order update. Ensure employee safe work habits. Maintain a safe work environment. Ensure all equipment guards, screens and barriers are in place. Practice safe work habits around chemicals, hot water & electrical sources. Ensure proper transport operations to include daily vehicle operations and safety checks. Prepare and coordinate contingency plans to ensure proper laundry support to all supported facilities should the CBW and/or other laundry equipment become inoperative or should inclement weather stop delivery of the laundry product beyond the four day contingency stock at each facility. Design and implement a training program to address safety and professional development. This program should also include on-the-job cross training into other laundry positions. Ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures to include HHSC and DADS. Review and submit suggested changes to policy, as necessary. Meet Life Safety Code, ICFMR, JCAHO, Department of Health, and other applicable local health code requirements. Also meet Life Safety and State Fire Marshal's Office code requirements. Where applicable and possible meet ADA, OSHA, NFPA and other federal requirements and/or standards.

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency?s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location



Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Ability to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others; to maintain records, and to prepare concise reports. Good customer service skills.


Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED Program plus five (5) years supervisory experience.

Initial Selection Criteria:
