Job Description:


The Clothing Clerk performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) clerical work. Work involves compiling and tabulating data, checking documents for accuracy, transporting documents, and maintaining files. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. shall serve under the direct supervision of the Unit Director and Assistant Unit Director. The Clothing Clerk shall be responsible for purchasing the clothing and personal items of his/her assigned individuals after confirming sizes and personal preferences. The Clothing Clerk shall always follow HHS established policies and procedures completing all required training and in servicing as required. The Clothing Clerk will ensure required supplies or materials are available to complete all necessary task. All required forms, records, and reports are turned in in a timely manner with accuracy.

The Clothing Clerk will be employed by the Denton State Supported Living Center and may be subject to temporary reassignment to Residential Services based on the needs of the facility and at the discretion of the Unit Directors and/or Facility Directors. The Clothing Clerk may assist with routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for people with intellectual disabilities in various settings. Responsibilities can vary, and may include such duties as grooming, bathing, feeding, observing and reporting individuals conditions and behaviors; providing meaningful interactions with individuals, participating in individualized training and/or active treatment programs for both males and females.


Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

The Clothing Clerk secures and distributes requested purchases within a reasonable time period by making individualized selection of clothing and personal items through retail stores, catalogs, or donated items from Volunteer Services upon request as needed.

The quality and quantity of purchased items are checked and separated before distribution.
Reviews correspondence, reports, purchase orders, summaries, manuals, vouchers, records, and other related forms for completeness and accuracy.

Assists the individuals and staff in filling out forms, and provides information to the Unit Directors via email, correspondence or phone.

Assembles, organizes, and tabulates data files and maintains supplies, forms, records, and reports.

Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail-orders and prepares return mail as requested.

Prepares purchasing documents for data entry and enters data into database.

Delivers, picks up, or receives documents, supplies, mail, equipment, or materials; checks for quantity and quality; or decides for repairs and services.

May arrange the scheduling, transfer, and display of surplus property; and may assist in conducting physical inventory.

The Clothing Clerk coordinates necessary documentation for billing between Trust Fund and any other approved purchase source.

The Clothing Clerk coordinates the repair of individuals personal possessions, including arranging for the repair of personal items, documenting and redistributing the item after repairs are completed.

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencys obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.


Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic; and of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures.
Skill in the use of a computer and office equipment.
Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; to transfer stock from one location to another; and to communicate effectively.
Ability to provide individual care to administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to conduct Safe Use of Restraints (SUR), and to communicate effectively.
Ability to work effectively with others and as a member of a team and to accept supervision.


Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Must possess a valid Texas drivers license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date. Applicants with an out-of-state drivers license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.

Initial Selection Criteria:
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
Graduation from an accredited Senior High School or GED preferred.
Experience working with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities preferred.

Starting Salary $1,806.75 / monthly

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/ Entities.

Males between the ages of 18 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

All new hire candidates will be required to receive COVID-19 medical screening (nasal test) as part of the due diligence process.

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
