The HR Generalist is responsible for managing the day-to-day
operations of the HR office and ensuring the effective
implementation of services, policies, and programs. Reports
directly to and assists the HR Manager with the following
functional areas: staffing, employee relations, benefits
administration, compensation/payroll, health and welfare,
organizational development/training, performance management and
- Staffing - Assists with recruitment of hourly and salaried
exempt/non-exempt positions and related onboarding/orientation
activities. Coordinates internal job postings and selection
processes for hourly and/or salaried. Assists with workforce
scheduling, headcount, turnover and related processes and programs
- Employee Relations including coordination of employee
functions, meetings, celebrations, recognition and service awards,
exit interviews and other engagement related activities. Ensures
fair and consistent treatment of employees in an open and flexible
work environment. Handles sensitive employee investigations as
- HR Programs Administration - Assists in performance review
process, leave administration, health and welfare administration
including benefits open enrollment and annual compensation/benefit
- Assists with the planning and administration of HR policies and
procedures; maintains compliance with federal and state regulations
concerning employment. Assures compliance with Affirmative Action
Program and monitors the progress toward EEO goals.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and
systems to effect continual improvement in efficiency and
- Maintains Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records and
files, including EV5 (database) and Kronos (time & attendance);
provides administrative support to all HR functions. May be
required to oversee and back-up hourly and or salary payroll
Bachelors degree is required in HR Management/Organizational
Development/Industrial Relations disciplines
3 to 5 years' experience preferred (less if Master's degree or
satisfactory equivalent certifications)
- Broad knowledge of general employment laws both federal and
state i.e. EEO/AAP, FMLA, COBRA, and DOL guidelines.
- Familiarity with employee relations, staffing, training,
payroll and benefits.
- Incumbent must maintain the highest level of integrity in
execution of his/her work, including handling matters requiring
confidentiality. Frequent contact and a good rapport with all
employees is necessary to help maintain employee morale, mutual
trust and respect.
- Demonstrated initiative, time management, project management,
teamwork, organizational, interpersonal, judgment, and
communication skills (verbal and written) required.
- Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for document
creation, charts and e-mail.
- Payroll/Timekeeping systems (ADP and Kronos) experience
Vitro Architecture operates complex glass production facilities.
This position is primarily located in an office setting; however,
interaction on the manufacturing floor will be required. Safety
equipment is required and provided.
The normal work week is based on a continuous operations (24/7)
schedule. Incumbent will work predominately dayshift Monday through
Friday but is required to be available/report for off-hours calls
or emergencies. Incumbent will work hours that best accommodate the
plant population as far as availability for HR services i.e. early
mornings for shift change.
